SmoothSigma filter
 
SmoothSigma filter is a powerful non-linear noise reduction filter especially effective in areas with high density of edges. It is designed to smooth noise while preserving the sharpness of edges.

This filter is enhanced version of the classic Sigma filter. SmoothSigma does not produce false contours between smoothed and unprocessed areas which sometimes are generated by Sigma filter at large filter sizes.

SmoothSigma is a recommended postprocessing for the  SmartSmooth filter.

 

Filter Size – Horizontal and Vertical set size of the filter. The larger the filter size, the stronger the smoothing. To suppress noise completely in smooth background areas you may need to to apply large filter size.

Gap determines how wide will be the range of brightness and color of pixels affected by the processing. The larger the parameter, the stronger the smoothing.
